CANADIAN MANHOLE COVER
Buying guide
1. Measure the clear opening
Measure the access opening beneath the cover. Compare this with the clear opening in the product specifications, then check that there is space for the larger outer frame.
2. Check frame and installation depth
Confirm the frame can be supported around the chamber and finished level with the surrounding surface. Ask a qualified installer to check the complete assembly.
3. Choose a solid or recessed top
A solid fiberglass cover is supplied with its finished top and needs no paving infill. HIDE recessed covers take your own paving material. The 0.8 inch option accepts material ⅝–⅞ inch thick; the 1.2 inch option accepts 1–1¼ inch material. These are nominal option names: use the listed internal tray depth and material range when planning. Paving inlay is not included.
4. Confirm the location
These covers are for pedestrian areas only. Do not use them in driveways, roads or parking areas. HIDE recessed covers are not watertight and must not be permanently submerged.
5. Follow the installation instructions
Have the support, inlay and lifting arrangements checked against the manufacturer instructions. Keep the lifting key accessible for future maintenance.
